Terms of service

These terms cover your use of MarginJar. They are written to be read, not to be impenetrable. Using the site means you accept them.

What MarginJar is

MarginJar is a calculator and margin-tracking tool for people selling handmade and small-batch goods. It estimates marketplace fees and profit from numbers you provide. It is not accounting software, it does not file anything on your behalf, and it does not provide financial, tax or legal advice. Decisions you make about pricing are yours.

Not affiliated with Etsy

MarginJar is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or in any way officially connected to Etsy, Inc. “Etsy” is a trademark of Etsy, Inc., referenced here only to describe the sellers this tool is built for — nominative use. MarginJar does not use Etsy’s logos or brand assets, and does not connect to Etsy’s systems or API.

Accuracy of fee rates

Fee rates are our reading of Etsy’s published fee schedule, last verified 2026-07-21. Marketplaces change fees, and rates vary by shop location, currency and circumstance. Results are estimates. Confirm current rates with Etsy before making a pricing decision, and treat anything here as a starting point rather than a guarantee.

Accounts

You need an account only to save cost baselines and import history. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in secure and for the accuracy of the figures you enter — MarginJar cannot tell whether a cost baseline reflects reality. You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live.

Plans and billing

  • The calculator is free, permanently, and requires no account.
  • The free plan includes 1 shop, 25 tracked SKUs, and 1 CSV import per calendar month.
  • Pro costs $9 per month, billed through Stripe, and removes those limits.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from the billing portal; access continues to the end of the period already paid for. We do not prorate refunds for partial months, but if something has gone genuinely wrong, get in touch and we will sort it out.
  • Hitting a free-tier limit never deletes data. Existing SKUs and baselines remain readable; you simply cannot add more until the limit resets or you upgrade.

Acceptable use

Don’t attempt to break, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the service or to other users’ data; don’t scrape it at a volume that degrades it for others; and don’t resell access. We may suspend an account that does these things.

Availability and liability

MarginJar is provided as-is, without warranty. We aim for it to be available and correct, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service or error-free results. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Your content

The aggregates and cost baselines you store remain yours. We use them only to operate the service for you. We do not sell them, and we do not share them with third parties except the infrastructure providers described in the privacy policy that are needed to run the product.

Changes and ending

We may update these terms; material changes will be reflected in the date above. You can stop using MarginJar and delete your account whenever you like. We may terminate an account for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, with notice where practical.
